Andrés Pantoja

Is a visual artist working primarily with photography. Initially trained as a graphic designer, he moved towards a career in the arts, graduating with honors from his BA in Visual Arts in Bogotá, 2010. Since then, Andrés has worked as a freelance artist and photographer; his artistic practice is complemented by his work in the field of documentary photography, and motivated by a profound social concern. While living in Colombia, his work reflected local political and social issues, such as the enormous number of refugees resulting from the country’s decades long internal conflict.

Since moving to London, Andrés has been developing a body of work that, while maintaining his interest in politics and society, reflects issues particular to the city of London.

Andrés has exhibited widely both in the UK and internationally; his most recent solo exhibition was in 2017 at Frontera Gallery, Mexico. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in the UK, Italy, Spain and Colombia amongst others; he was selected for the AOP Open 2013 where he won the AOP Public choice and as an exhibitor for the Photomonth Photo-Open 2012, also was selected as a finalist for the RGB awards in 2011. Examples of his work are held in numerous public and private collections worldwide. He is a co-founder of Lux Darkroom.
